Virtual teaching, or teaching using technology such as video conferencing and online learning platforms, has many advantages when it comes to teaching American Sign Language (ASL). Some of these advantages include:

  • Accessibility: One of the main benefits of virtual teaching is that it allows students to access educational resources and instruction from anywhere in the world. This is particularly important for ASL, as there are many people who live in remote or rural areas where access to in-person ASL instruction may be limited. With virtual teaching, students can learn ASL from the comfort of their own homes, regardless of where they live.
  • Flexibility: Another advantage of virtual teaching is that it allows for greater flexibility in terms of scheduling and pacing. Students can access ASL lessons and resources at times that are convenient for them, and can learn at their own pace, without being constrained by the schedules of in-person classes. This can be particularly beneficial for students who have busy schedules or other commitments that may make it difficult for them to attend in-person classes.
