Great piece... as a white man I have had some similar experiences--people make assumptions about the way I look and am horrified when they show me their asses. As a former teacher in NYC and a teacher, in general, for 33 years The USA never surprises me with its racism and classism dogma. It makes me ashamed to be from the US.
